The Mercy Franklin Classic is a local 5k and 10k race done every Labor Day for a number of years.
The race is an annual fundraiser for Mercy Community Healthcare. It is also a great community builder with so many people coming to run or cheer. My family has participated for years as runners and also as encouragers along the route.
This year my two oldest had the opportunity to run and we had a great time.
The race provides you with the opportunity to run one or both. My oldest and I decided to see if we could finish the 10k in time to also run the 5k. We both made it back to the starting line in time.
I have been training for a longer distance race for a few months now and was not sure how much it would impact my pace. For example, for packet pick up I actually ran from my house to pick up my race packet and then ran back home.
My race times are shown below and not too far off my previous times.
