Start of Week Two

Today was core work and restoration. It was just as hard this week as it was last week. The warm up consisted of jumping jacks and plank walkouts. This was followed by squats, push-ups, leg swings and lunges. The next group included single arm planks, V-ups, side planks and happy stars. Finishing up with downward dog into an upward dog and windshield wipers. Believe it or not wore me out. I am interested to see how day 2 goes.

Ultra Training Day 7

I have now completed 7 days of training with The Run Experience (https://therunexperience.com/). It has been a difficult adjustment going from 5 days of running to 3 days of running with 2 days of strength and 1 day of cross-training. I have also been training for ten weeks and The Run Experience (TRE) is a marathon training plan with a sixteen week plan. So, for this 1st week weekend, TRE had minimal hours of running and with my original training plan I was on eighteen miles for Saturday and an hour on Sunday.

Well, this weekend was a bust. I was only able to get out 11 miles on Saturday and 12 miles on Sunday. Whether it was the heat/humidity, fueling or the faster pace of the running partner, adjustments will need to be made. We will see what this next week brings as I continue to learn the TRE plan.

Ultra Marathon Training the Beginning

I am writing this late as I am still figuring out this whole blog editing thing. With the help of my daughter, I am further along than I would be otherwise.

As I have shared with many people, I have a goal of running a 50k and I have chosen the Big Hill Pond Walking Tall 50k in Pocahontas, Tennessee this October. I have joined The Running Experience and I am following their Advanced Marathon Training program to help me reach my goal.

More to come as I get more accustomed to sharing my activities and pictures to go with them.
